How to check your Microsoft Office license type
To use MS Office on the QB server, you need to have an appropriate license type.
There is a requirement for a minimum license version for MS Office to work on our QB server.
- The license needs to be an E3 or E5 license, or Apps for Enterprise (it can't be an apps for business or business license).
- For education licenses, it would need to be A3 or A5.
If you're having trouble logging into MS Office on the server, please verify your license to see if it's compatible.
How to check your license:
You can find your Microsoft 365 license type by logging into your account online or checking directly within any Office desktop app.
Method 1: Inside a Desktop App (Word, Excel, etc.)
- On Windows: Open an Office app, click File in the top-left corner, and select Account from the bottom of the list. Look under the Product Information or About section.
- On Mac: Open an Office app, click the app's name in your top menu bar, and select About [App Name]. Your license type will be displayed there.
Method 2: Via Web Browser
- Go to the Microsoft 365 Account Portal (https://myaccount.microsoft.com/).
- Log in using your work, school, or personal credentials.
- Click on Subscriptions in the left menu to view the exact license assigned to you (e.g., Office 365 E3, E5, or Microsoft 365 Business Standard).
If you cannot view your subscription details, your organization's IT administrator may have restricted access to this information. In this case, you will need to reach out to your IT department.
